Urban Outfitters jumpsuit (on sale!), Nine West mules (similar here), Cult Gaia bag, Tom Ford sunglasses & Lauren Ralph Lauren earrings c/o Bloomingdale’s San Francisco
Photos by David Ou
When David and I were reviewing these outfit photos, I joked that this was the most “blogger” I’ve ever looked, to which he quipped “that means we’ve been doing something wrong all these years.” It was funny at the time (and still is), but that actually got me thinking — in May I’ll have been blogging for eight years, but most of the time, I don’t feel like a “typical” blogger. Some of it has to do with the fact that I have a full time job outside of blogging and thus don’t have as much time as I’d like to create content on a more regular basis. A lot of it has to do with the fact that I often don’t feel like my outfits fit the particular blogger paradigm that has become so wildly popular and ubiquitous over the years. What I mean by this is that I photograph outfits you’d find me wearing IRL… I could probably be more generous with my accessory game… I stopped feeling the need to wear stilettos years ago… And I repeat-wear a lot of stuff. All this is to say that I definitely fall more in the “average girl” category than the “aspirational fashion icon” one. And I’m totally okay with that! But once in awhile the right outfit comes along (and let’s be real, the right camera angles and poses too) that makes me feel 💯 and reminds me why I started this whole thing in the first place.
P.S. Special shoutout to #BloomiesSF for feeding my tortoiseshell addiction!
