This is one of my favorite outfits I’ve worn this year, probably second to this one I wore earlier this summer. Clearly, I love the effect of one long, sweeping layer acting as an elegant centerpiece to an otherwise very simple outfit. I always laugh to myself when the dress-over-pants trend comes back around again, because the look is very reminiscent of a Vietnamese áo dài, which is the traditional attire that women have been wearing for centuries. Remember this look from 2017? Or how about this one from 2018? And this one from 2019? Based on this trajectory, I predict we’ll circle back around to this trend again in the next five years.
