Really excited about this fall/winter shoe lineup I’ve been slowly building up over the last year or so. In the not-so-distant past, I would have purchased multiple fast fashion versions of the dream luxury piece I wanted, but I’ve learned the value of saving up and holding out until I’m able to buy the one ultimate designer piece. I know it’s easier said than done, but I’m a firm believe that this is a more thoughtful and intentional way of shopping, and ensures I love and wear the item for years, rather than just a season. I will say, some affordable dupes can come close to looking like the real thing and it’s easy to get sucked into the instant gratification of buying, say, boots from H&M or Zara, but take it from me — nothing feels better than finally getting the thing you’ve been lusting over, even if it takes some time and effort. Stalk those sales, scour those secondhand sites, and set up alerts for your favorite items! It’ll be worth it in the end.
JW Anderson mules: Considering how much I wear and ADORE my Birkenstock x Proenza Schouler sandals, I wanted something similar for the winter months. Don’t get me wrong, I wear my Birks with socks when it’s cold out, but I was looking for something cozier. Initially, I thought I wanted a shearling lined pair, but glad I decided against it, since I knew it wouldn’t be something I’d reach for in the spring. And then I found these for a complete steal during Black Friday 2021 and went for it. They’re definitely an aggressive statement, but they bring an undeniably luxe touch to even the most basic of sweats. And happy to report I do indeed wear them year-round. You can see how I style them here.
New Balance x Aimé Leon Dore sneakers: These are my latest purchase, and definitely the pair I splurged on the most out of this bunch (yes, they were more expensive than the Proenza boots!). I love the look of the 550s and have since I saw them last October, but wasn’t crazy about any of the available color options — that is until the olive came out this summer. I ended up placing a bid on StockX that got accepted, and not to brag or anything, but it’s still the lowest price the shoes have sold for in my size 😏.
Gia Borghini x Pernille heels: So these were technically a birthday gift from David, but listen, I found the deal for him! I rarely add heels to my collection, let alone designer ones, so even I was surprised by how hard I lusted after these. Plus, Helena from Brooklyn Blonde convinced me on the comfort level. I debated the white color for a minute (easy to justify as a bride-to-be), but glad I ended up with the olive since I don’t have anything else like it in my collection. And yes, they really are actually quite comfortable for being heels!
Proenza Schouler boots: Would you believe me if I told you that I have been eyeing these boots for years… and then somehow found them for nearly 70% off secondhand and gently used?! I was stalking The Real Real nearly daily for the boots in my size during the winter, but I ended up finding them on Poshmark instead, over the summer, when I wasn’t even looking for them. So if there’s a lesson in there: don’t discount Poshmark, and shop during the off season.
